Hiring an AEO and SEO Partner in India: A US Business Buyer’s Guide
How US businesses can assess an India-based AEO partner: technical scope, evidence, reporting, ownership and remote delivery.

Start with the buying problem, not the acronym
A US business choosing an AEO partner in India should compare the work being delivered, the evidence behind recommendations and who owns the accounts. A lower monthly fee is not useful if the engagement produces articles that never connect to your services or enquiries. Answer engine optimization should make your expertise clearer while strengthening the search foundations your site already needs. It cannot buy a guaranteed recommendation from an AI assistant.
Ask for an audit you can act on
Request a sample deliverable with three parts: the page or issue observed, why it matters to a buyer, and the exact proposed change. “Improve authority” is not a task. “Rewrite the implementation page to explain supported integrations, link to the security documentation and resolve its duplicate canonical” is. Before work starts, identify the pages that bring qualified leads, the services with capacity to grow and the person responsible for approving factual claims.
Separate US market knowledge from office location
Ask who will review US terminology, examples and commercial expectations. An India-based team can collaborate remotely without pretending to have an American office. Confirm the intended states or nationwide audience, whether your offer genuinely varies by region and how customer questions are collected. Do not commission a separate page for every state if the only difference is the place name. Give the partner actual sales objections and product limitations instead.

Use a paid pilot with concrete acceptance criteria
A useful pilot could cover an agreed technical audit, improvements to two commercial pages, one buyer guide and a baseline report. This is a suggested scope, not a P2V package promise. Approve each deliverable by accuracy, implementation and usefulness, not by a guaranteed ranking. Agree the meeting window using named time zones; US daylight saving changes can shift recurring calls. Keep decisions and revision requests in one shared record.
Make reporting and ownership explicit
Your company should retain access to its domain, hosting, analytics and Search Console. Ask for a change log, page-level search trends, qualified enquiry counts and the limitations of any AI citation checks. A screenshot of one favourable answer is not evidence of reliable visibility. For repeated checks, record the question, tool, date, location context and cited URL. Ask what remains unmeasurable rather than accepting invented certainty.
Questions to put in the brief
- Which products, services and US audiences are in scope?
- Who approves technical and commercial statements?
- Which accounts stay under our ownership?
- What requires a developer, and who implements it?
- How are currency, payment milestones, revisions and handover agreed?
